He is a young man of few words, and if he has any fears, he keeps them buried deep, where no one else can see them.Puck Connolly is different. She never meant to ride in the Scorpio Races. But fate hasn’t given her much of a chance. So she enters the competition — the first girl ever to do so. She is in no way prepared for what is going to happen. (Taken from Goodreads)
Thoughts: I thought The Scorpio Races sounded really interesting. It sounded different to the Wolves of Mercy Falls series which wasn’t a series I loved so I was interested in reading this one.
First and foremost, I love Maggie’s writing. I think she writes in this really poetic and lovely way. Her words come out across the page in a lyrical and magical fashion.
My trouble with the book was that it just didn’t interest me. I didn’t really connect with any of the characters and I felt that a lot of the plot had so many allusions to things without ever clarifying anything.
Overall, I loved the writing style but just couldn’t get excited about the story.
