Three Days to Dead by Kelly Meding

Title: Three Days to Dead

Author: Kelly Meding

Published: Dell, 2009

Pages: 405

Series: Dreg City, Book 1

Summary: They’ll never see her coming. . . .

When Evangeline Stone wakes up naked and bruised on a cold slab at the morgue—in a stranger’s body, with no memory of who she is and how she got there—her troubles are only just beginning. Before that night she and the two other members of her Triad were the city’s star bounty hunters, mercilessly cleansing the city of the murderous creatures living in the shadows, from vampires to shape-shifters to trolls. Then something terrible happened that not only cost all three of them their lives but also convinced the city’s other Hunters that Evy was a traitor—and she can’t even remember what it was.
Now she’s a fugitive, piecing together her memory, trying to deal some serious justice—and discovering that she has only three days to solve her own murder before the reincarnation spell wears off. Because in three days Evy will die again—but this time there’s no second chance. . .  (Taken from Goodreads)

Thoughts: I’ve been on an urban fantasy kick lately and so I thought that Three Days to Dead sounded really awesome.  I must say however, that while I enjoyed parts of Three Days to Dead I didn't think it was spectacular.

I thought that the idea of Three Days to Dead was really interesting.  I also enjoyed the world building and the way that the different creatures/dregs were presented.

There was a romance element to Three Days to Dead but to me it felt forced and it wasn’t one of those romances where you hope the characters will get together or one where you think the couple are great together.  Instead it was kind of weird.  It felt sort of icky and awkward.

Overall, I thought that Three Days to Dead was unique and interesting but I didn’t think the writing or the characters were amazing.  This book wasn’t too bad but in a world where there are so many books and so little time, I’m not going to continue on with this series as I just don’t care enough about the characters or the Dregs to carry on.
